A look into the lodge… 
 
Your stay begins in one of the lodge’s elegant, free-standing thatched chalets. These come fully equipped with every possible creature comfort (including a luxurious bathroom, and, in some cases, a spacious wooden deck or private splash pool).  
 
Each chalet offers the ultimate privacy, as well as spectacular views of the surrounding citrus orchards and beautiful countryside.  
 
The lodge offers two separate sections: an adults-only retreat (ideal for couples and solo travellers) in Rooms 1-9 — or a family-friendly section in Rooms 10-16, which make travelling with kids a simultaneously welcoming and relaxing experience. 
 
Hitgeheim’s on-site restaurant, meanwhile, has a reputation for serving quality cuisine, which is beautifully complemented by the finest wine selections from their well-equipped cellar. (The lodge also occasionally hosts special dinner evenings that provide a unique glimpse into the special traditions and diverse flavours of rich South African cuisine.) 
 
As for adventure, there’s no shortage of that where Hitgeheim is concerned, as visitors can choose from a range of safari packages.  
 
The first package is the three-night Addo Schotia Safari Package; this is ideal for first-time visitors. This package combines the Addo Elephant National Park — famously renowned for its elephant population and other wildlife — with the Schotia Private Game Reserve’s Schotia Safari Tooth and Claw/Big 5 safari.  
 
Alternatively, guests can choose from either the two-night Addo Safari Package or the two-night Schotia Safari Package, which both include all park fees, gate fees and conservation levies in the package pricing, as well as dinner and breakfast (served at the lodge).
